HPS · YOUR FITTING GUIDE

Less guesswork.
A better fit.

Measure, compare, try on. Find size charts and clear fitting advice right here — for your skates, protective equipment and teamwear.

Your model comes first. These charts help you narrow your choice; they do not replace trying equipment on. Size groups are not fixed age ranges. Any unclear manufacturer values are marked instead of guessed.

Ice hockey skates: foot length and fit

Find your starting point for a fitting. These tables cover player ice hockey skates; inline, goalie and custom models need their own sizing guidance.

Measure beforehand in three steps

This HPS preliminary measurement is our own preparation for a fitting consultation. It does not replace the measuring instructions for your exact model.

  1. Prepare. Place paper on a hard, level floor with one straight edge against a wall. Stand with your heel lightly touching the wall.
  2. Mark. Put your normal weight on the foot and mark the end of your longest toe. Hold the pencil upright; another person can help.
  3. Record both feet. Measure from the paper edge to the mark. Repeat for the other foot and record both lengths in cm without adding an allowance.

Foot length is not insole length. Measurements of a removed insole or a runner do not belong in these tables.

Bauer: check size and fit separately

Bauer lists foot lengths as reference values. Fit and size are checked for the specific model.

Fit 1

Narrow width, low volume.

Fit 2

Medium width, medium volume.

Fit 3

Wide width, high volume.

These values are starting points for a fitting. Do not automatically round measurements between rows up or down. Sizes and fits depend on the model; missing half sizes have not been added.

CCM: foot length by size group

CCM measures from the big toe to the back of the heel. This is a separate measuring method. If another toe extends farther, tell us alongside your HPS preliminary measurement.

Tapered · Regular · Wide

CCM offers these fits depending on the model. Check the forefoot, instep and heel hold during a fitting. These names are not a fixed equivalent to Bauer fits.

Some official tables contain conflicting values. Those rows therefore say “Check exact model”. The remaining values are reference points for a fitting, not fixed sizing ranges.

Compare sizes here

Choose your equipment, follow your brand’s measuring instructions and open the matching table. The measurements are here in the shop; manufacturer links are optional sources.

Read product sizes and body measurements separately: Youth, Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Women are manufacturer groups. An inch label on a glove or guard is not a direct cm measurement of your body. Use the charts for initial selection, then check the specific model and fit.

Helmet · Head circumference and model

How to measure: Measure around the widest part of your head, from your forehead above the eyebrows around the furthest point at the back. Keep the tape level. Follow your specific model’s instructions for the exact measuring position and adjustment.

When trying it on: The helmet should sit snugly and evenly without shifting as you move. Check the cage or visor as well. Do not add a size as growing room.

Shoulder pads · Compare chest circumference

How to measure: BAUER: Measure around the fullest part of your chest. CCM: Measure just below the armpits; reliable height ranges are included as supporting guidance. A T-shirt size is not a chest measurement.

When trying it on: The caps should sit over the tips of your shoulders. Raise and rotate your arms and check the coverage adjoining your elbow pads and pants.

Elbow pads · Forearm length and secure fit

How to measure: BAUER: Bend your elbow to 90° and measure from the back of the elbow to the wrist crease. CCM: Measure along the outside of your arm from the elbow tip to the wrist, plus the widest circumference of your bicep. If CCM measurements indicate different sizes, prioritise bicep circumference.

Player pants · Waist circumference and length

How to measure: CCM: Measure just above your hip bones. Consider your height where a reliable range is shown. If the measurements suggest different sizes, prioritise waist circumference.

When trying it on: Fasten the pants as you would for play and bend into your skating position. Check support, movement and the coverage adjoining your shoulder and shin pads. Women’s pants, girdles and goalie pants require their own sizing.

BAUER’s source uses a derived pants measurement with specific deductions but no clear youth rule. We therefore do not publish a BAUER waist recommendation here. We can help confirm the measuring method for your specific model.

Shin guards · Use the brand’s own measuring points

How to measure: BAUER: Measure from the centre of the kneecap to the centre of the outer ankle bone. CCM: Sit with your knee bent to 90° and measure from the middle of the knee to the top of your skate boot just above the first eyelet, not the top of the tongue. CCM prioritises this tibia length over height.

How to measure: The tables below apply only to the BAUER FLEX Practice Jersey and give finished garment measurements. Hockey socks · Over your shin guards

Hockey socks cover your shin guards; they are not foot or skate socks. First choose the exact sock model and its offered length or size. Check coverage with your guards on and your knee bent.

We could not confirm a clear current manufacturer length chart for BAUER FLEX Stock or CCM Knit Gamewear. We have therefore left out estimated centimetre values. Tell us the brand, model and your current size so we can help identify the appropriate version.

The verified CCM tables are organised here by protective category; there is no need to open a manufacturer dialog. They come from CCM’s shared player-protective guide on the NEXT product page. Conflicting source values have been explicitly omitted. Sources checked: 10 September 2026.

Between sizes?

Do not automatically add growing room. Try equipment with your usual base layer and adjoining gear. For sizing advice, tell us the brand, model and your measurements; we can also help with WARRIOR or a model that is not listed here.
