Measure the waist where the pant will sit. The right fit covers the hips without restricting your skating stride.

How hockey pants should fit
The pants should sit securely at the waist and neither pinch nor shift in a deep knee bend. Thigh, hip and tailbone protection must cover their intended areas. Belt and lace adjustment fine-tune the fit but do not replace the correct base size.
